Your Perfect 3-Night Early Summer Escape to Vermont: A Tanglebloom Itinerary
Planning a couples getaway or solo self-care retreat in Vermont? Here's exactly how we'd do a few slow, golden days at Tanglebloom Tiny Cabin in May or June — Vermont's most quietly magical season.
One of our favorite questions to get from guests: "What should we actually do when we're there?"
So here it is. Whether you're escaping the city for a weekend of off-grid glamping, a nature reset, or a romantic retreat in the Vermont countryside, this is how we'd spend 3 nights and 4 days at Tanglebloom when the peonies are blooming, the wildflower meadow is at peak, and the long summer evenings stretch out in front of you like an exhale.

Day 1 — Arrive & Exhale
The best thing you can do on arrival day is take your time getting here.
If you're coming from Boston or New York, Brattleboro, Vermont makes a perfect stop before the final stretch. Grab lunch at Yalla — the food is fresh, bright, and exactly what you want after a few hours on the road. Prefer to stock up? The Brattleboro Food Co-op is a local institution. Pick up provisions for your stay, grab a sandwich or smoothie, and settle in at their café for a few minutes before the last leg.
Then make your way to the cabin, step into the trees, and let your shoulders drop.
Wander the wildflower meadow. Smell the peonies. Do absolutely nothing for the rest of the afternoon. That's the whole plan — and you deserve every minute of it.
Day 2 — Get Outside
Start slow. Take the scenic drive over the mountain to Putney and wrap your hands around a maple latte from Maple Coffee Co. — hot or iced, it's the move, and you'll understand why Vermont maple is the real thing. Hungry? Settle in at the Putney Diner for a proper breakfast first.
Then head up Putney Mountain for a short hike to the summit, where the views open wide. If your legs want more, follow the West Cliff Trail as long as you like before turning back — it's an easy hike with a big reward.
Refuel with a quick lunch from The Newfane Store, then cool off at the swimming hole at Rte 30 and Williamsville / Depot Rd — a beloved local spot with plenty of room to spread out. Not quite swimming weather? Spend an hour browsing the shelves at Wild Book Company in Newfane. It's the kind of hidden gem that makes you want to move here.
Head back to the cabin as the light turns golden. Cook something simple in the outdoor kitchen, fire up the wood-fired hot tub, and sink in. The sky stays bright until nearly 9pm in early summer. It doesn't get much better than this.

Day 3 — Go Slow (Or Go Sweaty)
This one's yours to design.
If you want to take the wellness retreat vibe all the way, book a session with Brattleboro Sauna — they host pop-ups at locations around the area, or (yes, really) they'll bring a mobile sauna right to the farm for a private session. Just book ahead.
More of a farmers market morning? You've got great options depending on the day: Brattleboro Area Farmers Market on Saturdays, Putney Farmers Market on Sundays, and Townshend Farmers Market on Fridays.
No market today? Vermont's farm stands are some of the best in New England. A few favorites near the cabin: Wild Carrot Farm, Rebop Farm, and Retreat Farm Market in Brattleboro; SUSU Community Farm and Dutton's in Newfane; Green Mountain Orchard, Milkweed Farm, and Parish Hill Creamery in Putney and Westminster.
Fill a bag with local honey, maple syrup, summer berries, and something from a small-batch cheesemonger. Meander. That is the whole plan.
Day 4 — Slow Morning, Sweet Goodbye
Please don't rush this one.
Linger over coffee on the porch in your pajamas. Take a last walk through the cutting garden and snip yourself a bouquet to bring home — peonies, wildflowers, whatever's blooming. A little piece of the farm, just for you.
Then stop at West River Cafe on Rte 30, just before you get into Brattleboro, for matcha or coffee and a pastry for the road. Roll the windows down. Ease your way back — a little softer, a little slower, and probably already thinking about when you can come back.
Early summer dates at Tanglebloom go fast. If a Vermont glamping getaway has been on your list — or you know someone who needs this kind of reset — now's the moment.
